Student Orientation

All new students must attend QIBA's compulsory orientation program before commencing their course.

Orientation Program

Orientation is mandatory — all students must attend on their course commencement day. Under the ESOS Act 2000, if a student has not commenced studies by the scheduled date, the CoE will be cancelled within 14 days of the scheduled commencement date.

Orientation programs run at the beginning of each course intake. Where a student is admitted late, Student Support Staff will conduct an individual orientation session. The program covers:

  • Support services available to assist overseas students
  • English language and study assistance programs
  • The learning management system
  • Legal, emergency and health services
  • QIBA facilities and resources
  • Complaints and appeals processes
  • Requirements for course attendance and course progress
  • Employment rights, conditions and workplace issue resolution

Learning & Language Support

Students are provided with a range of learning support options to help them meet course requirements and maintain attendance, including:

  • Tutorial support assistance
  • Computer and technology support
  • Referral to external support services
  • English language assistance
  • Assignment support and academic guidance
  • Welfare and personal counselling referrals
